What LASIK can—and cannot—do
LASIK is a type of refractive surgery that changes corneal shape to alter how light focuses. It may reduce dependence on glasses or contacts for eligible adults with certain refractive errors. It does not stop the eye from aging, cannot eliminate every future need for corrective lenses, and has risks like any surgery.
